These tracks were written in 2001 and 2002 during the time I was living in Hamamatsu in Japan, hence the title. They are a bit experimental and the recordings are not of the highest quality… but I think there’s something in here worth a listen. Hamamatsu is a musical city – Yamaha, Roland and Kaiwa pianos are all based there. A friend and colleague went on to work at the Roland HQ and I was lucky enough to get a loan of a keyboard – a JW50 Roland Workstation. I composed the tunes here, mainly through experimenting and creating basic loops. As the time came to give the keyboard back I hurridly recorded what I had onto a cassette recorder and then copied it later onto MD and then later onto computer, where it got a little polish but not much.
